Welcome to Military Corner. This space is designed to highlight what is going on with Military and Veteran Services – upcoming workshops, Student Veterans of America club activities more.

Benefit Reminders

Students using VA education benefits should submit a certification request upon enrolling each semester.

Active duty, reservists and National Guard members using tuition assistance (TA) should email va@vpcc.edu to notify us of intentions to use so we can hold classes.

Remember to contact Military and Veteran Services if you wish to make schedule changes so we can lift the hold for you to make the change. If making a change on the day of the deadline, you must contact Military and Veteran Services before the close of business.

June Factoids

June 12: Women’s Armed Services Integration Act anniversary – On this 75th anniversary, we recognize and thank women for their military service. Women were finally permitted to serve in all branches of the United States armed forces on June 12,1948.

June 22: G.I. Bill anniversary – This year marks the 79th anniversary of the G.I. Bill. Signed into law in 1944 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, this VA benefit has put higher education and training within reach for millions of veterans.

June 14: Flag Day – The United States flag was adopted June 14,1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress. The resolution specified 13 alternating red and white stripes with 13 stars on a blue field.

June 14: U.S. Army birthday – Established by the Continental Congress on this date in 1775, the Army celebrates 245 years of playing a vital role in the United States’ growth and development.
